The Plattduetsche Home Society is the epitome of an active retirement community. From cornhole to Wii video games to retail excursions, our senior living activities create a happy and healthy community where the joy of childhood reigns supreme.
Creating Memorable Experiences One Activity at a Time
Life is never dull here. We have a dedicated recreational director that coordinates indoor and outdoor activities, like bingo, bocce and cornhole, for the residents of both our Adult Home Care and Enriched Housing facilities. All year long, our seniors enjoy the best in recreation in the comfortable confines of our safe, serene community.
At Its Heart, Our Home is a Fun Place to Be
Fun is always on the agenda in our Franklin Square retirement home. Our seniors enjoy a rich experience that includes group and individual activities as well as special events and excursions.
Whether the activity of the moment is Wii video games, bingo or aquacise classes, we always strive to create a slate of senior living activities that bring joy to all.
Our Activities Help Our Seniors Stay Healthy
At the Plattduetsche Home Society, our activities are also an avenue to improve health and wellness. We have many activities, including nature walks and tending to personal gardening plots, which are a popular way for our seniors to stay active.
Many of our exercise programs creatively promote wellness by incorporating games into the sessions. For example, our meditation programs teach skills that reduce sleeplessness and stress as well as lower blood pressure.
Group Activities Create a Friendly Atmosphere
Group activities, including cornhole, build comradery in our community.
On any given day, you can see our seniors cheering each other on as they play organized games. Moments like these transcend the day’s activities. This bonding experience develops a sense of belonging that carries over into many other parts of the senior living experience.
Activity Provides Stimulus to the Brain
At the Plattduetsche Home Society, we firmly believe that participation in activities provides much-needed stimulus to the brain. For example, our card and board games are a simple way to keep older minds active and open new neural pathways to the brain.
What Our Residents Have to Say About Our Senior Living Activities
Throughout our nearly 100-year history, our residents have raved about our wide range of engaging and entertaining activities. They enjoy the variety of options available for indoor and outdoor activities as well as off-site trips to specialty grocery stores, like Trader Joe’s.
